As a result people feel powerless when it comes to preserving the quality of their water\, air\, public parks\, and natural spaces. DESCRIPTION:New Jersey legislators have proposed a constitutional Green Amendment that will recognize and protect the rights of all the people of the state\, including future generations\, to pure water\, clean air\, a stable climate and healthy environments. \nFor decades\, communities have relied on Federal and State laws to ensure protection of a clean environment. And for decades\, while achieving some important successes in environmental protection\, overall\, the health of our environment for present and future generations has continued to degrade. Currently\, our laws are designed to accommodate pollution rather than to prevent it.  But there is a solution for achieving better\, and much needed\, protection of our environment\, and that is to turn to the ultimate authority—our state and federal constitutions. \nWe all have the right to pure water\, clean air\, and a healthy environment.  It’s time to focus on how to truly secure that right for our own sake and that of future generations.  What would a Green Amendment mean for the state of New Jersey? DESCRIPTION:Join NJSSC’s Green Amendment team this upcoming Earth Week to celebrate both our planet and the Green Amendment. The Green Amendment includes both present and future generations in its text\, and environmental issues are of the utmost concern to today’s youth. However\, we are not the first ones on the stage here! So\, following the Amendment’s lead\, join us for an intergenerational dialogue and storytelling session on the Green Amendment. We’ll do a brief training on storytelling\, then split into breakout rooms with members representing as many different generations as possible where you will tell your own story about why you care about the Green Amendment.
